Kuršumlijska Banja has several sources of healing thermal-mineral waters with temperatures ranging from 14 to 64 °C. The thermal-mineral water used in the medical block of the hotel “Planinka” and pools belongs to the category of highly mineralized weakly acidic sodium hydrocarbonate hyperthermia.
The Institute recognizes Kuršumlijska Banja’s healing thermal waters as very high-quality mineral waters due to their favorable anion-cation composition, temperature, and the presence of dissolved hydrogen sulfide. The water is well mineralized, with over 2 g/L of dissolved solids, exceptional hyperthermia, which allows cooling to desired temperatures for application depending on indications for use, and significant amounts of dominant sodium ions, hydrocarbonates, and carbon dioxide. These properties exhibit healing effects, especially for rheumatic, neurological, and ischemic peripheral circulation diseases.
Medicinal clay made in combination with thermal water is also used in treatment. The high-mineral content soil is crushed, sifted, and mixed with medicinal water. The mud is then used for indirect applications, providing significant therapeutic and beneficial effects on many diseases.
